About The Night

The misson of the Plovdiv Night of Museums and Galleries is to present cultural heritage and the arts in an unconventional form and to attract wider and younger audiences to the city’s numerous state, municipal and private museums and galleries. It was initiated in 2005 by an Organising Committed and implemented with the support of the Municipality of Plovdiv.

The Night has turned into one of Plovdiv’s most successful art events and has been quoted as an example for modern cultural policy.

Stara Zagora and Pazardjik are Plovdiv’s partner cities in 2007.

For initiating the Plovdiv Night of Museums and Galleries Vesselina Sarieva has been awarded the Art Fact of the Year Award of Bulgarian art journalists. The significance of the event has been recognised by the British Council who included it in their mapping of the creative industries in Plovdiv and used it as a case study.
