REGIONAL MUSEUM OF HISTORY – PLOVDIV BULGARIAN UNIFICATION OF 1885 EXHIBIT

For the Night’s 10th anniversary edition, the Regional Museum of History – Plovdiv is launching a special initiative to allow blind and visually impaired people access to its four main exhibits. A special corner in each of the premises will be equipped with tactile maps of selected objects, produced with the help of the Center for Blind Rehabilitation in Plovdiv. The maps will allow visitors to recognize the form, structure and links between the parts of each exhibit, while “helping their eyes see” its symbolism. Annotations in Braille and audio guides will be available to clarify the objects’ content and history. The corners will also be equipped with a few original exhibits from the Museum’s depots – sculptures, relief objects, a 19th century bicycle, and others, which would be available for “hand seeing”.
