The exhibition “Box in a Suitcase” is a reflection on the movement of artworks and an encouragement for the artists. The aim is to present the French contemporary art scene in an international context. The exhibition takes its title from an artwork by Marcel Duchamp, in which, while in immigration to the United States, he shows reproductions of his works inside a carrying case, a kind of portable miniature museum.
In this context, fifteen young artists have been invited to create a project based on a single concept: to put their work – a painting, installation, video, sculpture or performance – in a suitcase. Whether “Box in a Suitcase” is integrated in the presentation of the work or not depends on the artist.
The exhibition is organized in co-operation with the Institut français de Bulgarie.
