The main theme in the Museum Center of Contemporary History during the Night will be the exhibition The Twin Cities – Plovdiv and Okayama, organized with the assistance of the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Bulgaria and Plovdiv Municipality. The friendly relations between the two countries will be discussed in two main directions: 1) the relationship between the twin cities of Plovdiv and Okayama; 2) memories of Japanese volunteers who were working in the Regional Historical Museum - Plovdiv from 1999 until 2008. Visitors can also enjoy demonstrations of traditional Japanese arts and practices such as ikebana, tea ceremony, calligraphy techniques, martial arts, haiku poetry performance, origami, etc;

Exhibit of “koinobori”

Children will have a chante to take a close look and touch “koinobori” in the courtyard of the museum center. “Koinobori” are silk carp-shaped wind socks that fly over every Japanese house on the fifth of May and symbolize pride, hardness, toughness and strength.
