This year the museam celebrates a triple anniversary: 100 years since the museum was established, 170 years since the Kuyumdzhioglu house was built and 80 years since the death of the museum’s founder Stoyu Shishkov. We will celebrate with an exhibition of 20 paintings by notable Bulgarian artists: Darena Georgieva, Petko Vladov, Encho Pironkov, Anastas Staykov, Elza Goeva, Kolyu Vitkovski etc. The paintings show scenes from the everyday life, work, household arrangement and holidays of Bulgarians in the past. They show different aspects of the lives of our ancestors but they are seen through the living eyes of the artists and still pertinent to our the present.

Because the audience needs to know the story of its creation as well as that of the fortunate coincidence of the Kuyumdzhiev house’s becoming the symbol of the Ethnographic Museum in the city of hills.
