This piece is a dance and film project created especially for NIGHT/Povdiv. The artist studies the environment in the Old Town through a site-specific performance. During the Ottoman occupation in 14 c. the Bulgarians were not allowed to build their Christian churches higher than the level of the eyesight of a horse-mounted person. That is why some churches in Bulgaria are semi-buried. Apparently, horses were a symbol of power, oppression and hierarchy demonstrated at the time. In the film, the artist will study these limitations and their effect on the city’s texture.
