Paper marbling is the dance of paints on water. This art technique comprises “painting on water” and printing of the painting on paper, fabric or an object. Its secret, however, lies in the fact that the brightness and the mixture of colours, as well as the shape of the painting, can never be duplicated again. The key to the beautiful paper marbling is the “kitre” – this is a thickener based on plant resins, which does not allow the sinking of the paints in the water and increases their buoyancy on the surface. The technique is typical of the Eastern art, characterised by fluency, meditativeness and patience in the performance.
