The secret Jewish tour of Plovdiv is an experience, in which the guests of the city will be able to see and become acquainted with a 2000-year-old community that was heroically saved by its neighbours during the Holocaust.
Starting from the Byzantine times through the Ottoman rule to date, the rich and colourful Sephardic community has played a major role in the city’s life and society.
The secret Jewish tour of Plovdiv introduces you to the living history, the relations and the mentality of the Bulgarian Sephardic Jews, as well as to the history of the survival, salvation and coexistence in the last (20)70 years.
The tour is a cultural initiative organised with the assistance and support of the local Jewish community in Plovdiv, the Zion synagogue, the Municipality of Plovdiv, Plovdiv 2019 and local sponsors.
