Workshop for children using appliqué method and work with fabrics and templates which are traditional patterns in Bulgarian folklore and from the Shakespeare period in England. All will be made on food mat prepared in advance.
Maximum number of children: 6 (children over 8-years old will have to pre-register in “Rukodelnitsa”).

At the Ethnographic Museum you will have the opportunity to participate in a workshop in which Mariya Argirova - a master of carving will demonstrate and teach you about the secrets of the ancient Venetian art.

The film is dedicated to the exhibition "The wonder world of the Thracian Woman".

In a specially designed studio everyone who wants, could dress in traditional clothes and with the help of some extra accessories could become a real woman dancing on St. Lazar’s Day or look like a young girl who bring water in special utensil called coopers, woman in harvest-time, bride or many other characters.

The exhibition will present the woman and her complicated inner world in different ways. The main purpose is to be shown to the visitors the unique customs, religions and events from the daily life of Thracian woman. Every ethnographic region of Bulgaria have its own unique clothing, rituals and ceremonies, but it would be presented only specific and very important moments of her life like birth, special dance for the St. Lazar’s Day accompanied by songs, for health, happiness and fertility, engagement , marriage and motherhood. The visitors will be able to see daily routines, crafts, special occasions and customs of the Thracian woman`s life. The woman is who create and follow the traditions.

Anyone interested can try his/her own skills and sit on the waving loom and learn some fine points of this craftsmanship under the guidance of an expert woman.
