The Museum of Aviation is an affiliate of the National Museum of Military History in Sofia. It is located 12 km southeast of Plovdiv, in the vicinity of Plovdiv Airport and the Krumovo Helicopter Base. The museum tells the history of military aviation in Bulgaria through an open air display of 65 airplanes and helicopters which were used by the Bulgarian Army between 1938 and today. The indoor exhibition presents aviation tools and uniforms used throughout this period, as well as the history of Bulgaria’s contribution to space exploration. The museum can be reached by train (trains leave for Assenovgrad on the half hour; get off at Krumovo) or by car (road to Assenovgrad, turn left after the turn for the Airport).
