Paintings exhibition by Atanas Hranov.

Atanas Hranov works in the fielf of plastic arts and painting and he mixes different genres. The typical materials that the author uses are wood, paper, canvas, bronze, silver and polymeric coat on metal construction. He has made more than 40 solo exhibitions and takes part in many common initiatives and curatorial projects. He has worked on different projects in collaboration with poets Vesselin Sariev and Aleksander Sekulov.

A journey to Isla Negra

Documentary film about the artist Atanas Hranov and his original project Ships’ Figureheads

The tradition to be put enormous figures on ships’ figureheads is to protect seamen from disasters and to guide them to the right way. This tradition dates from the remote past and is connected to the idea that every journey – physical or spiritual, needs protection by the heaven. Atanas Hranov`s idea of expressing that belief in painting and sculpture was born after he had visited the house of Pablo Neruda “Isla Negra” in Chile.

„En passant“ is a concept that chooses to think of fine arts as a territoy of passing through. It creates layers of a common sensory state between chess and visual images. The contemporary creators of images, as well as their interpretors, position the artistic communication in the field of unsustainable. The artworks of En passant are in search of territories of the non-fixed, the shining and the fading, of the rotationg between stopping and immersion in monotony, of the secluded from instance of one-way causal relationships.
